The primary and secondary weapons consist of recognizable firearm archetypes like assault rifles, shotguns, and pistols, but the different tools that are available allow each member of a four-player team to differentiate themselves somewhat. Right from the start all players have access to a sizeable inventory of different primary weapons, secondary weapons, melee weapons, and tools. To ensure GTFO players have the right tools for the job, 10 Chambers didn’t bother implementing any sort of XP-based progression or equipment unlocks system. Try to get by with anything less than that and you’ll quickly become Sleeper food. GTFO is a game that was designed, tested, and tuned for a full group of four players working in harmony using both text and voice chat. While you can technically load into Rundown missions by yourself, don’t expect to achieve any meaningful level of success. 10 Chambers also says that future GTFO game updates will cycle in new Rundowns, introducing new mission types and ensuring that dedicated players have a steady stream of new challenges to tackle.įor GTFO’s Steam Early Access launch, though, the debut Rundown is plenty difficult all on its own. The goals The Warden wants players to complete are divided into a series of inter-linked missions called a ‘Rundown.’ Progressing through each Rundown takes players deeper into the complex, upping the difficulty of both the Sleeper hordes and the puzzles players must solve in the process. Of course, standing between the players and their final goal are hordes of freakish monsters called Sleepers that can overrun and slaughter an unprepared expedition group in seconds, making stealth the preferred tactic of choice and firearms more of a last resort. Players take on the role of nameless prisoners who are dropped into a massive underground complex that’s controlled by an AI program aptly named ‘The Warden.’ There are things The Warden needs from within the complex, and players have to go and retrieve them. Running for your Lifeįor GTFO’s story framework, 10 Chambers kept things simple. ![]() If, on the other hand, you’re more of an introvert and/or you don’t like the idea of forgoing commonplace gaming staples like character progression and unlocks, you should steer well clear of 10 Chambers’ debut title… at least for now. If you’ve got a few PC gaming buddies to recruit or you don’t mind coordinating directly with online strangers, GTFO can provide some of the tensest, most thrilling survival-horror shooting to date. It’s a suffocatingly grim and terrifyingly hardcore experience where constant communication isn’t just important, it’s essential. By 10 Chambers’ own admission, GTFO is not a game made with casual drop-in/drop-out players in mind. In an industry where many developers aim to make their games as universally appealing as possible, 10 Chambers Collective’s new co-op shooter GTFO jumps out like a piercing scream in the dead of night. ![]()
